La Salle County, Information Technology Department is accepting applications for an IT Support person.

Successful candidate will be a patient, positive, detail oriented professional with excellent written and oral communication skills.  Job includes help-desk skills as well as a working knowledge and ability to install, troubleshoot and upgrade computer and networking hardware and software, routinely preform and verify server and computer backups.  

This technical role will be responsible for providing first level support to La Salle County employees and local users, in addition to developing and maintaining network infrastructure. This technician will need to be able to use available resources in order to resolve problems in a timely manner. Must interface professionally with all county employees.  Candidate should be interested in pursuing continuous development of personal technical skills.  The position will require travel within and outside of La Salle County.  Attendance at annual training and conferences may be required.  Successful candidate will report to the IT Director.

The types of technology involved include, but are not limited to:
Windows desktops and servers, Apple AIO Desktop computers, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, VPN solutions, UPS devices, racks, cabinets and various network appliances. Key factors for this job are the ability to work well as part of a team and the ability to work well individually.

It is understood that applicants may not have intimate knowledge of all of the hardware and software used within La Salle County and supervised training will be available, but a familiarity with the following is preferred:

Networking Hardware:  Windows 10 Pro Desktop / AIO Computers and components, Laptops, Tablets including iPads, Laser Printers, Xerox Copier/Printers, Windows Servers, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, WAPs & Bridges, UPS, Racks, Cabinets, POTS, CAT 5/6 Cables, RJ-11 & RJ-45 Patch Cords and Panels

Other Hardware: VOIP Telephone Systems, Navman GPS Systems, Audio / Video Equipment including Mixers, Microphones, Speakers & Wiring, PTZ Cameras, Biometric & RFID Time Clocks, DVR’s, Analog & IP Security Camera Systems, HVAC Programmable Thermostats, Body Worn and In-car Cameras, Data Hotspots

Candidate should have some familiarity with and be able to use hand tools to repair and replace above listed hardware.  The position requires walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, bending and climbing.  The ability to lift equipment for installaiton and repair is required.

Knowledge of IP Addressing & Subnetting, VLANs, Cisco Servers and Cisco OS, VOIP Phone Systems, Windows Server Active Directory is a plus.

Other responsibilities include meetings with La Salle County Commissioner’s Court and committees.  Submit budget requests and amendments as necessary and answer any technical questions for the Court and other elected officials and department heads, make recommendations for information technology equipment and programs and be able to demonstrate costs and feasibility of those items.

Must be able to pass background check, be able to obtain CJIS certification and pass a drug test.

Salary level, and title for this position will be determined by applicant's qualifications.
